Deal, Gingrich to discuss 10th amendment Thursday

ATLANTA — Gov. Nathan Deal and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich are scheduled to meet Thursday to discuss states’ rights and federal regulations that cost Georgia money.

The two plan to “discuss how to reassert the importance of the 10th Amendment and identify overbearing federal regulations that cost Georgia money, especially health care costs, and minimize its ability to create jobs,” according to Deal’s office.

Gingrich, who is reportedly mulling a presidential run, represented Georgia in Congress from 1979 until 1999.
A formal announcement that Gingrich is running for president is not expected Thursday, ajc.com reported. Gingrich, who co-wrote “Contract With America,” is often credited with helping bring about the so-called “Republican Revolution” of 1994.
