Ga. voters return to the polls Nov. 30

ATLANTA – Voters statewide will return to the polls Nov. 30 to decide a pair of races – the state’s Supreme Court justice and an appeals court post.

In the Supreme Court race, David Nahmias topped the field of three and picked up 48.2 percent of the vote. Tammy Lynn Adkins came in second with 35.2 percent.

In Georgia, a candidate needs a majority of the vote – “50 percent plus one” – to avoid a runoff.

Nahmias, a former federal prosecutor in Atlanta, was appointed to the Supreme Court in August 2009. Adkins is a family attorney in Lawrenceville.

In the Appeals Court race, Antoinette “Toni” Davis led a crowded field with 25.5 percent of the vote. Chris McFadden came in second with 22.6 percent of the vote.

Other races to be decided on Nov. 30:

Superior Court Judge, Atlanta Circuit: Kelly Amanda Lee topped a field of five candidates with 25.3 percent of the vote. Lee faces off against Shelitha Robertson, who garnered 21.7 percent of the vote during the Nov. 2 election.

Superior Court Judge, Macon Circuit: Jim Barnes, who received 42.6 percent of the vote, faces off against Howard Z. Simms, who picked up 39.5 percent of ballots cast.

Superior Court Judge, Stone Mountain Circuit: Courtney Johnson, who garnered 36.8 percent of the vote, faces off against Michael Rothenberg, who picked up 26.2 percent of the votes.

District Attorney, Houston Circuit: Arthur Creque garnered 37.7 percent of the vote and faces off against George Hartwig, who received 35.2 percent of the ballots cast. Both Creque and Hartwig are Republicans.

District Attorney, Macon Circuit: Republican Greg Winters, who garnered 40.1 percent of the ballots case, faces off against Democrat David Cooke, who picked up 21.9 percent of the vote.
