Polls: Two Ga. dems could be in trouble

ATLANTA — A pair of conservative-leaning Congressional Democrats from Georgia could be in trouble when voters head to the polls next week, new polling suggests.

U.S Reps. Sanford Bishop and Jim Marshall both lag behind Republican challengers, polls suggest.

In the 8th Congressional District, a poll from The Hill showed Marshall trailing challenger Austin Scott, a former state representative, by a 50-37 margin. Meanwhile, in the 2nd Congressional District, a poll from Landmark Communications shows Bishop trailing challenger Mike Keown by a 50-46 margin.

Real Clear Politics lists both seats as toss ups.

In recent weeks, both Bishop and Marshall have taken conservative-leaning stances on two high-profile issues.

Marshall said he wouldn’t support Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi for another term as speaker, if Democrats should retain control of the House. Bishop spoke out in favor of extending the so-called Bush Tax Cuts.
