Condemned Murderer Set to be Executed in Ga.

ATLANTA — Condemned murderer William Mize is scheduled for execution by lethal injection at 7 p.m. tonight at Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson. Mize, a white supremacist, was sentenced to death in 1995 for killing Eddie Tucker.

Media witnesses for the execution are: Adam Thompson, Athens Banner Herald; Greg Bluestein, The Associated Press; Blake Giles, The Oconee Enterprise; and Matt Johnson, 105.1 WSGC.

Mize has requested a last meal consisting of steak, fried chicken breast, baked potato, salad, garlic bread, a pint of butter pecan ice cream, one-half of a pecan pie and soda.

There have been 44 men executed in Georgia since the U.S. Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty in 1973. If executed, Mize will be the 22nd inmate put to death by lethal injection. There are presently 106 men and one female on death row in Georgia.
