Clinton Approved as Next Secretary of State

WASHINGTON — A U.S. Senate committee approved the nomination of Hillary Clinton as the next secretary of state.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted 16-1 in favor of Clinton. The full Senate is expected to confirm Clinton once President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration.
