WASHINGTON — The Senate Foreign Relations Committee quickly passed the “Global Poverty Act” yesterday, and the bill “could result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States,” Accuracy in Media editor Cliff Kincaid says.
Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., the front runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, is a co-sponsor of the bill.
The $845 billion bill, “which has the support of many liberal religious groups, makes levels of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the United Nations,” Kincaid wrote in a column posted on AIM’s Web site.
The bill makes levels of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the United Nations, Kincaid said. Major media have not reported about the bill, proving the media’s desire to see Obama elected to the presidency, Kincaid said.
